1.About these terms
These terms apply to your use of Kịrịkẹnị at kirikeni.com and its subdomains. Kịrịkẹnị is operated by Greencrest Integrated Services Ltd, Abuja, Nigeria. By using the site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it.
2.Using Kịrịkẹnị
Kịrịkẹnị is free to use. You do not need an account to search, browse or use the Learn page. Some features, such as favourites, flashcards and contributing, need a free account.
We may change, add or remove features, and we may pause the service for maintenance. We will try to give notice of significant changes.
3.Your account
- Give accurate information when you sign up and keep your sign-in details to yourself.
- You are responsible for what is done through your account.
- Accounts are for people aged 18 and over, or younger people with the consent of a parent or guardian.
- You can delete your account at any time in Settings. Deletion is immediate.
- We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, after a warning where that is reasonable.
4.Your contributions
Contributions include new words, corrections, phrases, cultural notes, voice recordings, votes and comments.
- You confirm that you have the right to share what you submit, and that recordings are of your own voice or made with the speaker’s permission.
- You keep ownership of your contributions. You grant Greencrest Integrated Services Ltd a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive, perpetual and irrevocable licence to use, edit, adapt, publish and distribute them as part of Kịrịkẹnị and its related learning products, including future mobile apps, and to let others do so on the same terms.
- We credit approved contributions with your display name. You can ask us to remove your name at any time.
- Editors may edit, decline or remove any contribution, for example to match the dictionary’s spelling conventions or to correct mistakes.
- Approved contributions become part of the dictionary and stay, without your name, after you delete your account.
5.Acceptable use
When using Kịrịkẹnị, do not:
- post anything unlawful, abusive, hateful, sexually explicit, or that harasses or threatens anyone;
- share other people’s personal information;
- submit entries you know to be false, or impersonate another person;
- post advertising or spam;
- copy the dictionary in bulk, or use automated tools to download or query it, without our written permission;
- try to break, overload or get around the security of the site.
6.Dictionary content and reuse
The design, software and arrangement of Kịrịkẹnị belong to Greencrest Integrated Services Ltd. The core of the dictionary comes from Levi Sika’s Okrika Word Book as circulated by Roger Blench in 2005; rights in that source material remain with their owners.
You may look up, quote and share individual entries for personal, educational and non-commercial purposes, with the credit “Kịrịkẹnị (kirikeni.com)”. For any other use, including copying large parts of the dictionary or using it in a product, please ask us first.
7.Accuracy
We work hard to make Kịrịkẹnị accurate, but it is built from a 1995 manuscript with known gaps and from community contributions, and it will contain mistakes. It is provided “as is”. Please do not rely on it as the only authority where accuracy matters, and tell us when you find an error.
8.Donations
Donations are voluntary and support the running and growth of Kịrịkẹnị. They are not currently tax-deductible. Donations are not refundable, except where a payment was made in error or the law requires a refund.
9.Other websites
Kịrịkẹnị links to other websites and services, such as WhatsApp. We are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices.
10.Our liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data, arising from your use of Kịrịkẹnị. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited by law.
11.Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top of this page, and tell account holders about significant changes. If you keep using Kịrịkẹnị after a change, the updated terms apply.
12.Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any dispute will be handled by the courts of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, unless the law gives you the right to bring it elsewhere.
