Alphabet & sounds
Kịrịkẹ is written with the Latin alphabet plus a dot below six letters. The dotted vowels are the “open” set that pairs with the plain ones in vowel harmony; the dotted consonants are made with the air drawn inward. Double letters like gb, kp and nw are single sounds.
Tone
Pitch changes meaning. fị́ with a high tone is “to eat”; fị̀ with a low tone is “death”. The dictionary marks every syllable, so read the accents as carefully as the letters.
