Built on one man’s word book, and many voices.

Kịrịkẹnị stands on the work of Levi Sika and the people who helped him, the scholars who kept his typescript alive, and every speaker who has added to it since.

The source

The Okrika Word Book, 1995–2005.

  • Compiler

    Levi Sika

Author of the Okrika Word Book (Kịrịkẹnị Ọkụẹịngbọlụ Diri), completed in June 1995. Every headword in the core of this dictionary is his.

  • Editor, 2005 edition

    Roger Blench

Prepared and circulated the manuscript in May 2005, correcting the English, adding scientific names, synonyms, cross-references and etymologies, and drawing on his own notes on Kịrịkẹ musical instruments.

  • Editorial consultant and custodian

    Kay Williamson

Advised Sika as an editorial consultant. The typescript survived among the papers she left, and her Comparative Ijoid transcriptions were used in editing it.

  • Fish names

    Richard Freeman

His notes on Kịrịkẹ fish names were used by Blench in the 2005 edition.
