Questions
Before you give.
- Is my donation tax-deductible?
- Not yet. We will update this page as soon as a registered non-profit vehicle is in place to receive gifts.
- Where does the money go?
- Into the four areas above, in roughly those proportions. A short summary of spending will be published on the Credits page each year.
- Which currencies can I give in?
- One-off gifts can be made in naira or US dollars, by card or bank transfer. Monthly gifts are in US dollars by card. For other currencies, contact us and we will arrange it.
- How do I stop a monthly gift?
- Right after you give, the thank-you page has a Manage your monthly gift link where you can change your card or cancel. Any time after that, contact us with the email you gave and we will cancel it before the next charge. Cancelling stops future payments; earlier payments are not refunded automatically.
- Can I sponsor something specific?
- Yes. Pronunciation recording for a set of words, a field session in a particular town, or the mobile app launch can all be sponsored directly.
Can’t give money? Give words.
Recording a pronunciation, correcting an entry or writing a cultural note is worth as much to the dictionary as a donation.
