History
The story of Bolo.
Wakirike USA records that Bolo’s ancestors came from the central Delta by way of Ilotombi. They were led by Luka, who had succeeded Abalamaya-Opuso after his death at Ilotombi. When Luka died his son Bolo led the people on to a larger island, and the settlement took his name.
Asuk and Adubo tell a related story: the founders left Old Ilotombi in Andoni after a civil war and stayed for a time at Okochiri before moving on.
Bolo is one of the four districts of Ogu–Bolo Local Government Area, created in 1996, and has its own Amanyanabo.
Founding stories come from oral tradition and differ between sources.
